Bank statement converter for QuickBooks
PDF statements into QuickBooks — the workaround the bank feed can't do.

Why QuickBooks users end up here
QuickBooks' bank feed covers roughly the recent 90 days for most banks. Everything the feed can't reach — older history, closed accounts, unsupported banks, the client who arrived with a year of PDFs — enters by file: CSV via Banking → Upload transactions in QuickBooks Online, or Web Connect (OFX-family) files. Half of all import pain is CSV shape: QuickBooks accepts a 3-column (date, description, signed amount) or 4-column (date, description, credit, debit) layout and asks you which you're using. Our CSV is 3-column with outflows negative, dates unambiguous, and the description already carrying the identified merchant — which makes the For-Review categorisation step dramatically faster.
Importing into QuickBooks, step by step
- Convert your statement above and download the CSV (or OFX if your workflow uses Web Connect).
- QuickBooks Online: Transactions/Banking → the account tile → Upload transactions.
- Pick the file and the QuickBooks account it belongs to.
- Map columns (3-column layout, dates as shown) and check the preview before importing — fixing there is cheap.
- Categorise from For Review as usual; merchant-identified descriptions make the suggestions accurate.
The gotchas QuickBooks users actually hit
The DD/MM vs MM/DD question
QuickBooks asks the date format during mapping. Answer for the file, not your locale habit — one wrong click shifts every date by months, and re-importing is the only clean fix.
Sign convention flips
In 3-column files money out must be negative. Some bank exports invert this; ours doesn't, but if you ever mix sources, check a known transaction before committing thousands of rows.
Feed overlap duplicates
Importing a file that overlaps the live feed window creates near-duplicate pairs QuickBooks won't always auto-match. Import only up to the feed's start date, or dedupe the file first — statements uploaded here are deduplicated across overlaps automatically.

Frequently asked questions
Can QuickBooks import a PDF bank statement?
Not natively — PDFs must become CSV or Web Connect files first. That conversion (including scanned PDFs, with amounts re-validated) is what this page's tool does.
CSV or OFX for QuickBooks?
CSV via Upload transactions is the simplest for QuickBooks Online. Desktop editions prefer Web Connect (.qbo/OFX-family) files. We export both from one upload.
How do I handle a client with a whole year of statements?
Batch-convert (zip upload on paid plans), reconcile each file's totals against the statement summary, then import account by account, oldest first. The full workflow is in our bookkeeping guide.
