Getting your statement out of JA Bank
JAバンク (JA Bank) is the banking arm of Japan's agricultural co-operatives, and its online banking follows Japanese convention: the transaction history is modelled on the 通帳 passbook, and the export is literally labelled 'passbook format'. Both JAネットバンク on the web and the JAバンク app can produce a CSV of 入出金明細 that opens straight into Excel.

- Run the enquiry for the account and period you need.
- On the results screen, click 通帳形式ダウンロード.

The results screen shows 20 rows at a time — that is only the display. The download is not limited to what is on screen.

- Choose the file format — CSV for a spreadsheet, PDF for a record.

JA's manual is explicit that PDF is image data and CSV is comma-separated text. Choose CSV if the file is going into Excel.
Menu wording shifts between app versions; the destinations above stay stable — confirm against JA Bank's official help. Statements up to 5 MB / 5,000 rows are supported; card numbers are redacted before storage, the original file is deleted within 24 hours, and reports stay in your dashboard only as long as your plan keeps them.

How far the online enquiry reaches depends on the account and the local JA, so check what your own 入出金明細 screen offers rather than assuming a fixed window. Where the online history runs out, the passbook itself and printed statements are the fallback — and a photographed or scanned passbook page is the case where conversion earns its keep, since there is no file to export at all.
JA Bank statement quirks worth knowing
These are the details that trip people up when a JA Bank export doesn't line up with the statement it came from — worth reading before you assume the conversion is wrong.
- The download is called 通帳形式 (passbook format), not 'statement' or 'CSV'. Japanese banking is organised around the 通帳 passbook rather than the monthly statement Western banks issue, so the vocabulary — and the shape of the file — follows the passbook.
- The on-screen enquiry shows 20 entries per page, with a 次ページ (next page) button for the rest. That is a display limit, not an export limit — download rather than paging through and copying.
- The web bank (JAネットバンク) and the JAバンク app are different products with different screens: the button is 通帳形式ダウンロード on the web and 明細ダウンロード in the app.
- In the app you choose the period and the file format before the download runs. Picking PDF there gives you image data, which is a picture of the rows rather than the rows — fine for a record, useless for a spreadsheet.
- JAバンク is a federation of regional JA co-operatives rather than a single bank, so screens and available features can differ slightly between local JAs.
