Getting your statement out of Santander UK

Santander UK keeps statements as e-Documents inside Online and Mobile Banking, and says you can see account activity from the last 7 years. Transactions are downloaded separately from the statement archive, through a format dropdown on the account itself, with a per-download transaction cap that catches people exporting a long history.

Download transactions for accounting software

  1. Log on to Online Banking and open the account.
  2. Choose the transaction download option.
  3. Select 'All available transactions' or 'Since last download'.
  4. Pick a format from the dropdown — Microsoft Excel, Quicken, Adobe Acrobat (PDF) or Microsoft Money.
  5. Click Download.

600 transactions per download. Narrow the date range and repeat if you need more.

Get statements in Mobile Banking

  1. Open the Santander Mobile Banking app.
  2. Tap 'Mailbox' in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap 'Statements and documents'.
  4. Select the statement and use the download icon to save it as a PDF.

Get statements in Online Banking

  1. Log on to Online Banking.
  2. Click 'Account services'.
  3. Open the statement you need.
  4. Use the print icon to print, or download the e-Document as a PDF.

Menu wording shifts between app versions; the destinations above stay stable — confirm against Santander UK's official help. Statements up to 5 MB / 5,000 rows are supported; card numbers are redacted before storage, the original file is deleted within 24 hours, and reports stay in your dashboard only as long as your plan keeps them.

What Santander UK gives you natively

Santander's transaction download offers Microsoft Excel, Quicken, Adobe Acrobat (PDF) and Microsoft Money. Statements themselves are held as e-Documents and download as PDF. There is no plain-CSV option in the download dropdown — the Excel export is the spreadsheet route.

How far back you can go

Santander's own paper-free statements page says you can see your account activity from the last 7 years in Mobile and Online Banking. That is the statement archive; the transaction download is bounded by the 600-row cap per request rather than by a fixed window, so a long history comes out in several files rather than one.

Santander UK statement quirks worth knowing

These are the details that trip people up when a Santander UK export doesn't line up with the statement it came from — worth reading before you assume the conversion is wrong.

  • A hard cap of 600 transactions per download. Santander's own help gives the worked example: on an account doing roughly 50 transactions a month, any range longer than about twelve months will need a second download to capture everything.
  • The download offers 'All available transactions' or 'Since last download' — the second option is stateful, so running it twice in a row returns almost nothing the second time.
  • Statements and transaction downloads are separate things in different places: statements live in the Mailbox (mobile) or under Account services (online), while the transaction export sits on the account itself.
  • Santander also offers a 12-month Midata export, which is built for comparison sites rather than bookkeeping and is not the same file as the transaction download.

Don't just convert it — understand it

The same upload also produces a full analysis of your Santander UKstatement: every merchant identified with confidence levels, subscriptions with renewal estimates and yearly cost, duplicate and price-rise flags, bank & FX fees, and a printable report. That's the part a plain converter can't do.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my Santander download stop at 600 transactions?

That is Santander's documented limit — you can only download 600 transactions per download. Their help gives the example of an account with about 50 transactions a month, where any range longer than roughly twelve months needs a second download. Split the date range and export in chunks, then combine the files.

Can I get a CSV from Santander UK?

Not directly. The download dropdown offers Microsoft Excel, Quicken, Adobe Acrobat (PDF) and Microsoft Money — the Excel option is the spreadsheet route, and it opens straight into Excel or Sheets. If you need true CSV, convert the Excel file or the PDF statement.

How far back do Santander statements go?

Santander says you can see your account activity from the last 7 years in Mobile and Online Banking. Statements are held as e-Documents in the Mailbox on mobile, or under Account services online.

What does 'Since last download' mean?

It exports only what has appeared since the previous export from that account, which is useful for a regular bookkeeping routine but confusing one-off: run it twice and the second file will be nearly empty. Use 'All available transactions' with a date range when you want a specific period.

How do I convert a Santander UK statement to CSV or Excel?

Download a statement from your Santander UK app or online banking (PDF or CSV both work), upload it above, and download the result as CSV, Excel, QIF, OFX or JSON. Every transaction is parsed, and merchants are identified automatically.

Does it work with Santander UK PDF statements?

Yes. Structured exports are parsed exactly; PDF layouts go through AI structure analysis, and scanned PDFs are read page-by-page with AI vision — every date and amount is re-validated by code afterwards.

Is my statement safe?

Card and account numbers are redacted before anything is stored, the original file is deleted within 24 hours on every plan, analysed reports stay in your dashboard only for your plan's retention period (24 hours on Free), and we never ask for your bank login.

Is it free?

Converting a statement is free with an account (1 page per 24 hours). Paid plans add more pages, bulk uploads and AI web research on stubborn merchants.
