Convert TD Bank statements to CSV or Excel

Turn TD Bank statement exports — PDF or CSV — into clean CSV, Excel, QIF, OFX or JSON. Unlike a plain converter, every transaction comes back matched to a real merchant name with category and confidence, and subscriptions, recurring charges and bank fees are detected automatically.

About TD Bank

TD Bank is the US retail arm of Canada's Toronto-Dominion Bank, operating along the East Coast. It is a separate institution from TD Canada Trust, and the two issue different statement formats and currencies — US dollars here, Canadian dollars north of the border — so check which one a statement came from before converting it. Official site: www.td.com.

Getting your statement out of TD Bank

TD Bank in the US keeps monthly statements as PDFs under Statements & Documents in online banking and the TD Bank app. Transaction activity is a separate download aimed at spreadsheets and accounting software, and it reaches back far less far than the statement archive does.

Download PDF statements

  1. Sign in at tdbank.com or open the TD Bank app.
  2. Choose the account.
  3. Open Statements & Documents.
  4. Pick the statement period and download the PDF.

This is the official record — it carries the statement period, opening and closing balances and the summary block.

Export recent activity to a spreadsheet

  1. Sign in and open the account.
  2. Go to the account activity view.
  3. Choose a date range within the available window.
  4. Download the file and open it in Excel or your accounting tool.

Roughly an 18-month reach. Anything older is PDF-only.

Menu wording shifts between app versions; the destinations above stay stable — confirm against TD Bank's official help. Statements up to 5 MB / 5,000 rows are supported; card numbers are redacted before storage, the original file is deleted within 24 hours, and reports stay in your dashboard only as long as your plan keeps them.

What TD Bank gives you natively

Official statements are PDF. Recent account activity can be downloaded separately for spreadsheets and personal-finance software; the activity export covers a much shorter window than the statement archive, so anything older has to come from the PDF.

How far back you can go

The statement archive goes back considerably further than the activity export. In practice the split matters more than the exact numbers: if the period you need is inside the recent activity window you can export it directly, and if it is older you download the PDF statements and convert them. For anything beyond what appears online, TD customer service can supply copies.

TD Bank statement quirks worth knowing

These are the details that trip people up when a TD Bank export doesn't line up with the statement it came from — worth reading before you assume the conversion is wrong.

  • The activity download and the monthly statement are different data. The export pulls from the live transaction feed, so it carries no statement period, no opening/closing balance block and no summary section — reconciling it against a statement will not line up on its own.
  • The spreadsheet export reaches roughly the last 18 months. Older history exists only inside PDF statements.
  • TD Bank (US, tdbank.com) and TD Canada Trust (EasyWeb at td.com/ca) are different banks with different download screens, despite the shared brand — a guide for one does not apply to the other.
  • Credit-card and deposit-account exports use different column layouts, so a spreadsheet template built for one will not line up with the other.

Don't just convert it — understand it

The same upload also produces a full analysis of your TD Bankstatement: every merchant identified with confidence levels, subscriptions with renewal estimates and yearly cost, duplicate and price-rise flags, bank & FX fees, and a printable report. That's the part a plain converter can't do.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn't my TD export match my statement?

They are different sources. The activity export comes from the live transaction feed and carries posting dates, current descriptors and no balance chain, while the PDF statement is a fixed monthly snapshot with an opening and closing balance. Pending items and date-range edges account for most of the rest of the difference.

How far back can I export TD transactions to a spreadsheet?

The spreadsheet export reaches roughly the last 18 months. Older transactions live only inside PDF statements, which is where a converter is genuinely needed rather than merely convenient.

Is TD Bank the same as TD Canada Trust?

No. TD Bank in the US (tdbank.com) and TD Canada Trust (EasyWeb, td.com/ca) are separate banks with separate online banking and different download screens. Make sure you are following instructions for the right one.

Can I get a QFX or QBO file from TD?

The activity download targets spreadsheets and personal-finance software; the exact format list depends on the account type and can change. If the format you need is not offered for your account, converting the PDF statement produces CSV, Excel, QIF, OFX or JSON directly.

How do I convert a TD Bank statement to CSV or Excel?

Download a statement from your TD Bank app or online banking (PDF or CSV both work), upload it above, and download the result as CSV, Excel, QIF, OFX or JSON. Every transaction is parsed, and merchants are identified automatically.

Does it work with TD Bank PDF statements?

Yes. Structured exports are parsed exactly; PDF layouts go through AI structure analysis, and scanned PDFs are read page-by-page with AI vision — every date and amount is re-validated by code afterwards.

Is my statement safe?

Card and account numbers are redacted before anything is stored, the original file is deleted within 24 hours on every plan, analysed reports stay in your dashboard only for your plan's retention period (24 hours on Free), and we never ask for your bank login.

Is it free?

Converting a statement is free with an account (1 page per 24 hours). Paid plans add more pages, bulk uploads and AI web research on stubborn merchants.
