Merchant profile
Airbnb
Airbnb is a marketplace for short-term stays and experiences, and unlike a hotel booking site it collects the guest's money rather than leaving it to the host. Its help states the guest is charged once a host accepts the reservation request, or immediately where Instant Book is used, so the charge date tracks the booking and not the trip — a stay booked in January can bill in January and be travelled in June. Reservations that meet certain criteria can be split into multiple payments rather than one, which is how a single trip produces two Airbnb lines weeks apart. The total also carries the Airbnb service fee plus any cleaning, extra guest and pet fees and applicable VAT or local taxes, so it sits above the nightly rate advertised.
