Convert PDF to Excel
Turn any PDF's table into a real Excel workbook — not a screenshot of one. Numbers arrive as numbers, the header row is frozen, and every column keeps its printed title, so the spreadsheet is ready to sort, sum and filter the moment it opens.
Choose a PDF (or CSV, Excel — up to 5 MB)
Typed, not pasted
Amounts are numeric cells you can sum immediately — no green-triangle 'number stored as text' cleanup.
No layout mangling
Column boundaries come from the PDF's own coordinates, so values never slide into the wrong column.
XLSX, XLS-era friendly
The .xlsx output opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers and LibreOffice — no import wizard.
How it works
- 1Upload your PDF.
- 2We extract the table with its real column layout.
- 3Download the Excel workbook — types preserved, header frozen.
What you download: A .xlsx workbook of the document's table with typed columns and a frozen header row — open it directly in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers or LibreOffice. Prefer CSV, JSON or Markdown? Same extraction, different download.
Convert PDF to Excel without losing formatting
The classic failure when you transform a PDF to Excel is silent reformatting: dates flip between DD/MM and MM/DD, long numbers turn into scientific notation, leading zeros vanish. Our Excel export writes real typed cells — dates as dates, amounts as numbers — so nothing is reinterpreted when the file opens. And because the extraction is verbatim, what you see in the workbook is what the PDF printed.
Convert PDF to XLS or XLSX free — what's the difference?
XLSX is the modern Excel format and what we produce; every current spreadsheet app opens it, including anything that still expects the older XLS. So if you searched for a free PDF-to-XLS converter, the .xlsx download is the answer — same spreadsheet, current container, and your first document converts free. If your destination is Google Sheets, upload the .xlsx or grab the CSV; for pipelines and databases, CSV or JSON is usually the better shape — one click away in the same menu.
Built for documents, not just bank statements
This converter handles any PDF with a table — price lists, inventory reports, class schedules, lab results, export manifests. If what you're converting is a bank statement, use the dedicated bank statement converter instead: it adds merchant identification, categories and balance reconciliation on top of the conversion.
What about scanned PDFs?
Digital PDFs with a real text layer give exact results — we read the document's own characters and coordinates, not a picture of them. If you upload a pure scan with no selectable text, we detect it and tell you honestly instead of returning garbage rows.
Free converter
Convert your statement — and understand it too
A free account converts a statement page every day to CSV, Excel, QIF or OFX — with every transaction matched to a real merchant name, not a cryptic descriptor. No card required; files deleted after 24 hours.
No bank logins · card numbers redacted before storage · everything deleted after 24 hours
Questions
›How do I convert a PDF to Excel for free?
Upload the PDF above and download the .xlsx. Your first document converts in full on the free account.
›Will my dates and numbers survive the conversion?
Yes — the Excel export writes typed cells, so dates stay dates and amounts stay numbers. No DD/MM guessing, no scientific notation.
›Can I convert PDF to XLS instead of XLSX?
We produce XLSX, which every current version of Excel (and everything that used XLS) opens directly. For maximum portability there's also CSV.
›Does it handle multi-page PDFs?
Yes — tables that continue across pages are merged into one sheet, with repeated page headers skipped.
›How is this different from Smallpdf or iLovePDF?
General converters rebuild the page's look. We extract the data — verbatim columns, typed cells — and for invoices and receipts we go further and check the totals actually add up.
›Is it safe to upload my PDF?
Files are never stored — the original is deleted within 24 hours, parsed data follows your plan's retention window, and you can delete everything instantly. Card and account numbers are redacted before anything is saved.
